- I am a middle school science teacher, who recently received notification of a scholarship to Africa to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in July 2013. I need to prepare now for that excursion. I love walking in the woods, but have not been on an overnight backpacking trip/hiking in over 10 years! The highest points in MI are severely under Kili in altitude. That is my biggest concern.
